Original Graphic


Some of you have been wondering how reclaimed land is used to create an island. Here is a simple graphic that hopefully helps you out a bit. Basically, sand fill is brought in and is built up until it extends beyond the suface of the water, creating an island.

  1. Just wondering how big the environmental concern would be. Might be too much to look into, but I could see green thumbs losing their heads.

  2. Tyler, I have found a little information on envorinmental concerns. Yes, there are some bad concerns, but there are also some good impacts from it, such as it ends up reducing the tide and waves resulting in an easier environment for the wildlife to survive.
